![]() In INMOST, you play a little girl, Elizabeth, as she explores her house and surroundings. It just takes a whole playthrough to realize it. Along the way, I learned more about his tragic story. The majority of my playthrough was with Adam as he explored a massive castle in search of a witch whom he had to confront. ![]() I saw the Knight, in dutiful service to the Keeper, tear through his enemies while looking for a soul flower in secret. I experienced Elizabeth’s story and the emotional abuse she went through at the hands of her mother. All of this serves as a metaphor for lost hope, lost love and unbearable suffering. The antagonist of the story is a creature, The Keeper of the Spark, who consumes them and feeds off the pain of others. Elizabeth and Adam have fractured ones, while the Knight lost his a long time ago. These soul flowers are an important element of the story and serve as the physical manifestation of love, hope and freedom from pain. Each character has their own personal trauma, and the story narrator guides us through an overarching story about soul flowers. On the surface it is a story about pain, but as the ending told me, it’s really a story about love. There are a few heavy themes in INMOST including suicide, bullying and emotional abuse. It did take time to get used to the unique movements of each character. Elizabeth can manipulate objects and climb Adam can manipulate objects, climb and roll and the Knight can only attack and use a grappling hook. Additionally, each character has their own unique movement abilities. Luckily, the transitions didn’t interfere with the flow of the gameplay, but instead gave me the context I needed to understand the characters and their motives. I wasn’t able to switch between these characters while playing, but specific story points transitioned me automatically. Each of these characters’ stories are interconnected, and that interconnectivity is explored throughout the game in small, bite-size chunks. It tells the story of three main characters: a little girl, Elizabeth an old man, Adam and an unnamed Knight. INMOST is an action-adventure puzzle platformer that has a deep, relatable message. Search every corner of the castle, not ignoring even the darkest dungeons. Place traps, while trying not to fall into a deadly trap. Make your way through the crowds of creatures, destroying enemies with any available weapon. Try to act as stealthily as possible so as not to attract undue attention of the enemy. Now they have to explore all the corridors and rooms of the abandoned castle in order to find the heart of evil lurking inside. A brave knight once swore allegiance to the forces of darkness, a strange creature that feeds on pain, a young lonely girl were together in one team. In one dark story, which happened far in the past, the fates of three heroes were connected. The user is given the opportunity to establish the interaction of three characters at once with different skills, abilities and even character. The game Inmost belongs to the genre of logic platformers with a rather intricate plot. ![]()
